Welcome
to the The 2008 Taconic Little League
Baseball/Softball fever has certainly taken
hold in the Mid Hudson Valley for the 2008 season. We are very
excited to
start another season and work with all of the families and
children involved in Little League. Our goal is to provide a
friendly, safe environment for children of all ages and skills to learn
and enjoy the games of baseball/softball. Please review the important
information and reminders that were mailed to everyone in December.
Little League establishes
the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play. Taconic Little
League offers programs
for both softball and baseball starting off with
T-Ball.
To be eligible to play, your child must be
of the proper League Age , and must live within the Taconic Little League
boundaries. The League age requirement is different for baseball and
softball, and will be determined based on your
child's age as of April 30, 2008 for baseball and December 31, 2007 for softball for the
2008 Spring
season.
The league is run by a Board
of Directors which is staffed entirely by volunteers. We are always
looking
for more volunteers.
Get the best seat on the field and spend some quality time with your
child. We are currently seeking volunteers at the Board level;
Equipment Manager, Safety Officer, Player Agent and Volunteer
Coordinator. It is critical to have enough people dealing with the
many details of the season. It is vital to the success of the upcoming
season. Please call Jackie today to express your interest in one of
the open positions.
We are guided by a set of documented local
rules which you can find in the individual division section.
Baseball and T-Ball teams are comprised of
players league age 5 to 18. Softball teams are comprised of players
league
age 7 to 16. Games are played at local playing fields and coached by
volunteers as are the umpires. As a
measure of security we do conduct background
checks as required by Little League International for any person that
volunteers so that we know our children are in safe hands. At the end of
the season, some players are eligible to
participate in All Star selection
and will be notified at that time. Game schedules for Baseball, Softball
and T-Ball are
available and located in the
Schedules section.
